HABIT IS SECOND TO NATURE

Next to natural instincts habits have strongest hold on human beings. Once a habit is formed a human being finds it almost impossible to get rid of it. Even when a human being tries his utmost to shed an old habit he finds himself helpless. A habitual smoker cannot give up smoking even though he may from pious resolution to give it up.  The same applies to the habits of gambling and drinking. We may almost say that, once a man get into the habits of gambling,he will remain a life long gambler whether it is gambling with cards or horse races. A habitual drunkard may be able to abstain from drinking for a couple of days. But he will find the craving for liquors so strong that after a belief interval of a couple of days he will revert to the habit. The proverb is equally true of good habits. A man who is frugal by habit will never waste money. Man is indeed the slave of habits. To cultivate good habits and maintain it in our daily routine is imp...

Hiking provides the greatest pleasure to a man, whether you go by yourself or in the company of others. Some people prefer to go alone because then they can think calmly and quietly on many serious problems of the day. Mahathma Gandhi was one of them. He walked very fast every morning but he was accompanied by his disciples they discussed many problems of the day as they walked.          Hikers and tramps are found everywhere in the world. Some go out on long walks for pleasure, some do it for health. Some go out for hikes because they feel bored at home and do not find anything worthwhile to do. In an effort to run away from themselves, they just run away from home. In the new surroundings they find a new interest. They see greener fields and pastures new. During hiking  they make new friends and sometime this friendship blooms in to business ventures or a romance and even marriage. ...

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

This proverb means that we should be careful about our health. If we take certain steps, we shall save ourselves from falling ill. We should go out for a walk, take excercise, should not over-eat and should sleep in time. Falling ill is a curse. We have to roll helplessly in the bed. Even after recovering, we are not able to do our work for months. Therefore, we should always take proper care of our health. We should not do anything which may cause harm to health. We should not worry unnecessarily. We must take milk and fruits, we should clean our teeth, massage our body. We should take our bath in clean water everyday. If we take these precautions, we shall never fall ill.

DEATH IS THE GREAT GRAND LEVELLER

T here are different kinds of people among us. There are rich people and poor people. There are good men as well as bad men. Some may be clever and others foolish. There are happy as well as unhappy men. But all these distinctions and specialities last only as long as we are alive. One we are dead all must certainly crumble to dust. Death has no distinction between the good and the bad ;the poor and the rich;the kind and the begger. It come to claim us all one day or other. That is why we are called mortals. In a way, death can be called the great leveler; as one  that  levels all distinctions. There is no way by which we can prevent or postpone it once it is one us. All get defeated by the death. People run after glory, power and riches without remembering this. They fight over silly little things. A man ma y be a great fighter, but he is a fighter only as long as there is life in him. One that life has left him, he is turned to mere dust, which everybody tramples on. W...
